Sanctuary Gardener Update ~ 4/14/14

Here it is, the middle of April, and I’m just beginning my spring planting. I am no where near where I should be by this time of year! The weather is much to blame there, but my schedule isn’t helping. Well, at least I harvested all my winter-planted crops this weekend and got those prepped and put up. I also did a few things in the garden, getting ready for planting in the next few days.

This week’s garden pictures!

Finally, spring is here! The temperature was in the low to mid-70s this weekend, the pine trees are dropping pollen, new leaves are appearing on trees and bushes, and my winter garden is enjoying its last week before I harvest everything (ready or not) to prepare for the spring planting next weekend! Come, take a look at the changes in my Sanctuary Garden!

Sanctuary Gardener Update ~ 2/24/13

What a week here in the Charleston area! I think the weather can’t figure out if it’s winter or spring. After 3.9 inches of rain last week, we received another 2.3 inches this week (almost all of it in the past two days). That was interspersed with below freezing temperatures and a couple hard frosts. Surprisingly, most of my garden has survived – including the strawberry buds (see above picture). Unfortunately, there were some casualties. Come take a look!

With the unseasonably warm weather here in the Charleston, SC area, seedlings are popping out all over my garden. So much so, I felt another garden update was needed. Here’s what has happened in my garden since Friday’s update. But wait, there’s more!
