Sanctuary Gardener Update ~ 6/23/14

The intense heat continues here in the Charleston, SC area. Most of the days have been in the mid-90s, with a couple days reaching 98 and 99 degrees. Highest heat index was 108 this weekend. Needless to say, I didn’t get as much done in the garden as I needed to. I couldn’t stand the heat! We did get an inch of rain yesterday, thank goodness. And I did take time to take some pictures. Garden Bounty ~ Week Ending 6/8/14

I think I can now say that summer has arrived in my garden because I reaped a summer’s harvest in the past week! I harvested about 2.5 pounds of various greens, 3.5 pounds of sweet and hot peppers, 3 pounds of various snap beans, 116 heads of garlic, 3 onions, 63 radishes, 8 cucumbers, and my first tomato.
