It’s definitely autumn because I’m planting, harvesting, and canning all in the same week. Sleep? What’s that? The weather has been gorgeous, and I’m loving being outside now. No more 90+ degree days! My plants are obviously loving it, too, because they’re giving me more to harvest. This past week, I harvested almost 4 pounds of beans, 5 pounds of peppers, 2 ounces of raspberries (alas, they’re done for the season), and 2 tomatoes. This week’s garden bounty!
This past week was a slow one as far as harvests are concerned. However, we received over three inches of rain, and the temperatures have dropped below 90 degrees on a regular basis now. My plants are breathing a sigh of relief…and are flowering and fruiting. So, the harvests will be increasing soon! In spite of it all, I did harvest 2 pounds of pear tomatoes, 3.5 pounds of peppers, and about 3/4 pound of raspberries. Take a look. This past week’s garden bounty!
After weeks without rain, we finally got a bit of it. My garden was so thirsty! However, the heat and humidity are still oppressive. My harvests are still small in quantity and in size, but I call my plants the “little engine that could” garden because they’re trying hard to continually give me something to harvest. This past week, I harvested a little over 3.5 pounds of eggplant, 3 pounds of watermelon, 1.2 pounds of raspberries, and a little over 1.5 pounds of peppers. This past week’s garden bounty!
It was another incredibly hot week here…with no end in sight. As of this weekend, it’s also been three weeks since my garden has seen rain. Needless to say, my poor plants are struggling to survive. Even with my watering, it’s been tough on them. However, my sweet babies have continued to give me something in a way of harvest – even if the fruit is small. This past week, I’ve harvested 1.75 pounds of raspberries, almost a half pound of small melons, almost 1.5 pounds of squash, 2 pounds of pumpkin, a little over half a pound of tomatoes, 3.5 pounds of eggplant, and 2.75 pounds of peppers (mostly chiles). My garden is like the Little Engine that Could! Garden Bounty photos!
It’s blazing hot in the garden…still! My plants are spending most of their energy struggling to survive the heat. However, they’re still giving me something – especially the watermelons. This past week, I harvested 17 pounds of melons, 3 pounds of peppers, 1.4 pounds of tomatoes, 1.4 pounds of eggplant, a little over a pound of winter squash, a pound of lima beans, and my first handful of raspberries! Not bad for such a scorching week. Garden bounty photos!
After being away on vacation for a week and a half, I had quite a bit to harvest when I returned home. I did lose a few things – a bunch of overripe tomatoes, a cantaloupe, a handful of peppers, etc. – but the garden fared well for the most part. On the day I returned, I harvested a pound of tomatoes, almost 5 pounds of peppers, almost 6 pounds of melons, and over 3 pounds of winter squash. Not too shabby for a day’s harvest! Garden Bounty photos!
This weekend, I harvested my first tomatoes and eggplants. It was also quite the weekend for harvesting beans, peppers, and cucumbers, too. I harvested 3 eggplants, 19 cucumbers, 2 pounds of tomatoes, 5 pounds of peppers, and 5 pounds of snap beans. Garden bounty in pictures!
I think I can now say that summer has arrived in my garden because I reaped a summer’s harvest in the past week! I harvested about 2.5 pounds of various greens, 3.5 pounds of sweet and hot peppers, 3 pounds of various snap beans, 116 heads of garlic, 3 onions, 63 radishes, 8 cucumbers, and my first tomato. Pictures of my garden bounty!
