Sanctuary Gardener Update ~ 7/27/15

Good morning, everyone. I have to admit…after the past excruciating week at work, I don’t know what day of the week it is or whether I’m coming or going. I had such a to-do list for the garden and the yard, but I didn’t anticipate such long hours at work. So, alas, the to-do list remains “to do,” unfortunately. However, I did get a chance to harvest a couple of times and get some pictures of the garden for you, though. Hope you enjoy! This week’s garden photos!

Sanctuary Gardener Update ~ 7/6/15

Good morning, everyone. I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend. I intended to spend quite a bit of time in the garden over the weekend, but it seemed my body was more exhausted than I realized. So I slept. A lot. I spent some time in the garden, doing a few things (like pruning and tying my tomatoes), but the major chores will just have to wait a few days longer. Funny thing – my mind continues to make plans as though I’m 25 but my body often screams, “Enough!” Ah, the joys of getting older. So, I do what I can as I can while I’m still working full time. Meanwhile, my plants may not be as healthy as they could be, but they are doing what they do best – fighting on. This week’s garden photos!

Sanctuary Gardener Update ~ 6/8/15

Happy Monday, everyone. Remember last week, when I told you that we hadn’t had rain in a couple of weeks? Well, we more than made up for it the middle of this week. My garden got almost five inches of rain in three days! All is well with the garden – except my little lemon drop pepper seedling, which has disappeared. (I think it got washed away!) Now, the humidity has come with a vengeance. We had 92% humidity yesterday (at 7:00 a.m.!), and I couldn’t even work in the garden. So, guess where I am today, making up for it, heat and humidity or not? You got it. Meanwhile, here’s the latest from my Sanctuary Garden. This week’s garden pictures!

How My Garden Grows in June ~ Part 2

Yesterday, I shared with you pictures of half my garden this month, compared to pictures last month. Everything has grown so much! If you missed yesterday’s post, you can see Part 1 here. Today, I’ll share with you the rest of my garden with links to last month’s pictures, so you can see the change. How my garden grows in June!

How My Garden Grows in May ~ Part 2

Yesterday, I shared pictures of half my garden beds and how they’re growing. If you missed the first half of my pictures, you can view Part 1. Now, for pictures of the second half of my garden. How My Garden Grows in May!

Sanctuary Gardener Update ~ 5/6/13

I think we need an ark for my sanctuary garden! Rain, rain, cloudy days, mist, more rain…. Today is the first day the sun has come out in a week. I’m not worried about ground water as my raised beds drain well. However, all the rain and humidity is the perfect environment for fungus and disease on many plants. I pulled a couple of lima beans that looked troublesome (didn’t want it to spread to the other plants), and I’m investigating some black spots on one of my pepper plants. (Mold??) Yet, my garden IS growing. Come take a look!

Sanctuary Gardener Update ~ 1/27/13

Boy have things been busy this week here at my Sanctuary Garden! Not only do I have 14 raised beds that I’m tending outside, I now also have six flats of seeds and seedlings that I’m nurturing. The weather has cooled off since my last update with temperatures closer to average, so the growth of the outside veggies has slowed a bit. Yet, most of my winter crops now have their secondary (true) leaves. And seeds are already popping through the soil under my grow lamps! Come take a look!
