Garden Bounty ~ Week Ending 6/22/14

Although it’s been in the 90s for weeks, my garden is still producing. I harvested 15 cucumbers, 1.5 pounds of winter squash, 6.2 pounds of peppers, 5.5 pounds of tomatoes, 2 pounds of beans, and 5.5 pounds of onions. Not too shabby! My garden bounty in pictures!

Garden Bounty ~ Week Ending 6/15/14

This weekend, I harvested my first tomatoes and eggplants. It was also quite the weekend for harvesting beans, peppers, and cucumbers, too. I harvested 3 eggplants, 19 cucumbers, 2 pounds of tomatoes, 5 pounds of peppers, and 5 pounds of snap beans. Garden bounty in pictures!

Sanctuary Gardener Update ~ 7/8/13

Well, the long weekend is over. I used it to get some much needed rest as well as work on some changes to this website. (I’m hoping to have all the changes in place by month end.) We did get a few more rain storms over the weekend – like we needed more rain! I think yesterday was the first day without rain in almost two weeks, and I was able to trim the dead branches from my tomato plants. I also took the opportunity to take some pictures of how the garden looks. See the garden!

Sanctuary Gardener Update ~ 4/22/13

This is my second year gardening in the Charleston, SC area, but I am still amazed at the new things I see in my garden. For example, as my following knows, I planted three types of potatoes in five-gallon buckets – three white fingerling, two peach-colored fingerling, and five purple potatoes. (I bought them at the grocery store, so I’m unsure of the exact varieties.) The peach fingerlings are now blooming! (See picture above.) There are no blooms on the other potato plants, but I learned not all potatoes flower. Who knew? Come see what else is new in my garden this week!
