The other day, I was reading an article about a company in California whose innovative product is empowering people to grow their own organic food and generate an income, thus becoming independent of any need for government (or organizational) aid. I was so intrigued by this, I had to share it with you.
Whether the need is due to a disaster, a refugee crisis, a lack of access to a power grid, or any number of reasons, Farm from a Box comes to the rescue. The company modifies shipping containers and outfits them with everything needed to run a modern two-acre farm. It’s a complete ecosystem in a kit. The company calls their customizable product, “the Swiss Army knife of sustainable farming.”
Among the items included in the shipping container are solar panels for power, water filtration equipment, irrigation pumps, farming tools, and a computer for land mapping and soil monitoring. The containers can also contain equipment for a complete hydroponic system to augment traditional farming.
I find this idea exciting! Read more about it at Farm From a Box. Might not be a bad way to start that off-grid homestead, eh?
So anyone can be a farmer! Love that! 😄
Me, too!
